LEVEL 2: AVALANCHE STATEMENT

Avalanche Forecast:

Avalanche activity above the road MAY OCCUR. Resulting avalanche debris reaching the road grade is POSSIBLE but NOT LIKELY.

Travel Advisory:

Through travel only in the JC Road corridor, do not stop vehicles.

It is recommended that any person operating equipment in the corridor wear an avalanche transceiver and have access to rescue equipment.

Snowpack and Weather Summary:

The snowpack is trending towards an isothermal structure as moving water is beginning to permeate the various layers. The moving water will cause the temperature of the snowpack to rise and maintain a consistent temperature from the ground to the snow surface. Due to this process, wet slab activity may occur above the JC Road but is expected to terminate above the roadway.

Colder temperatures can be expected for the week ahead with precipitation falling as light snow throughout the week. Wednesday will bring the highest amount of precipitation with light to at times moderate low elevation snowfall along with gusty west-northwest winds.
