2023 ELECTION

Candidate Bios:

ROSS FLAX

My name is Ross Flax and I am a resident of Wyoming and in particular of the Snake River Sporting Club. My wife Sandra and I relocated here in June 2020. My career for the past 25 years has been in real estate development and education whereby I operate a small chain of private preschools throughout the Washington DC metro area. My development carrier mostly surrounds building large commercial buildings that my schools inevitably occupy. Development of these buildings is typically a 3 year process from identification to completion. Because we operate in the nations capital, development is an extremely complicated process dealing with design/architecture, impact studies, transportation, water, sewer, stormwater management, forestry, land management, utilities, county planning and building departments and impact on neighbors - essentially many of the issues that our ISD confronts. In addition, I sat on the HOA board of our condo in Santa Monica (which we no longer live) and currently an active member of the HOA board of our condo in Aspen. I believe that my extensive background and current experience in managing complex real estate issues and my passion for doing so is greatly aligned with the needs that we face as residents of the SRSC. I have the time and interest to insure that we, as residents succeed in achieving positive results for the complex issues that we face at the club. I welcome your support and would be happy to discuss any perspectives you may have as we navigate our future in the coming years. I can be reached at rossflax@me.com or 410/952-2511.

BOB HASLAM

I was born in Taunton, Massachusetts in 1946. I was the second of what was ultimately a family of four children – sister, me, sister, brother – spread over 7 years. Shortly after my birth our family moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, where we lived through third grade. We moved to Short Hills, New Jersey in 1955. I attended Millburn High School and graduated in 1964. I attended MIT and received a BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1968. I satisfied my military obligation by enlisting in the US Air Force. I was on active duty from January 2, 1969 through May 31, 1973, stationed at the Satellite Control Facility in Sunnyvale, California. My work involved generating command messages for one of our spy satellite programs. After leaving the Air Force, I moved to San Francisco and attended law school at the University of California at Hastings College of the Law. I graduated in 1976 and joined a law firm in San Francisco, Heller, Ehrman. I became a litigation associate, then partner, and remained until the firm closed its doors in 2008. While at the firm, I formed the firm’s intellectual property practice and led that group from inception to over 80 attorneys. After the firm dissolved, I joined Covington & Burling, opening its Silicon Valley office. I became a senior counsel in 2017 and remain somewhat active in patent litigation. I have two children, Laurel, born in 1981, and Julia, born in 1983 from a first marriage. I married my wife Molly in 2002 and helped raise two more children, Jade, now 30, and Austin, now 27. Thus far we have been blessed with 4 grandchildren, Mia, 11, Masen, 9, Micah and Maddox, both 2 years. We currently split our time between our home in San Mateo, California and our home, Lodge No. 1, at Snake River Sporting Club. I have served on the ISD Board for 2 years.

TERRY KLARE

My wife (also named Terry) and I have been homeowners in SRSC for 7 years. Our homestead is currently in the Texas Hill Country northwest of San Antonio. Although our SRSC home is a second home, we average approximately 5 to 6 months per year in the community. I have been in the energy business my entire career and am currently President of an equity fund backed energy midstream company and an oil field equipment company with primary offices in Texas and Colorado. We are all privileged to be part of a beautiful and unique community surrounded by God’s art and it’s a responsibility to keep and protect this privilege, which has been my motive to serve multiple terms on the SRSC HOA and ISD boards. I am knowledgeable of the challenges our community has previously faced as well as future challenges of the ISD as our development nears completion. It is my desire for SRSC to be a community that conforms to common desires of the residents to the extent fiscally, lawfully, and environmentally possible, while keeping the atmosphere of a true and cooperative neighborhood for all.

Christopher and the ownership team have a deep personal and financial commitment to SRSC and are excited about the future of the community.
