LEVEL 2: AVALANCHE STATEMENT

Avalanche Forecast:

Avalanche activity above the road MAY OCCUR. Resulting avalanche debris reaching the road grade is POSSIBLE but NOT LIKELY.

Travel Advisory:

Through travel only in the JC Road corridor, do not stop vehicles.

It is recommended that any person operating equipment in the corridor wear an avalanche transceiver and have access to rescue equipment.

Weather and Snowpack Summary:

An impressive snowfall event impacted the area on Saturday March 3rd, resulting in multiple road closures within the region. The snowpack adjacent to the JC Road underwent a rapid change during that time and while this event stressed the snowpack, it has made the snowpack stronger despite the weak layers at its base.

For the week ahead snow can be expected each day, with the first major pulse arriving tomorrow in the early afternoon. The next round moves into the area Tuesday afternoon and will peak in intensity that evening and into the early morning on Wednesday March 6th.

Snow showers linger through the day before colder air moves into the area on Thursday.
