LEVEL 2: AVALANCHE STATEMENT

Avalanche Forecast:

Avalanche activity above the road MAY OCCUR. Resulting avalanche debris reaching the road grade is POSSIBLE but NOT LIKELY.

Travel Advisory:

Through travel only in the JC Road corridor, do not stop vehicles.

It is recommended that any person operating equipment in the corridor wear an avalanche transceiver and have access to rescue equipment.

Expect poor visibility along the roadway Monday February 5th, due to gusty winds and blowing snow.

Weather and Snowpack Summary:

The new snow from this past weekend is bonding moderately well to the melt freeze crust that formed last week. This next storm will bring warmer air into the area, resulting in denser moisture laden snowfall. This denser snow may lead to small dry loose natural avalanche activity as it falls upon colder dryer snow from this past weekend.

Snow is forecasted through the week with the highest amounts occurring today, Monday February 5th. Warmer temperatures are forecasted for Tuesday February 6th and rain can be expected through part of the day. Temperatures begin to cool, and snowfall amounts decrease as we move through the work week.
