LEVEL 2: AVALANCHE STATEMENT

Avalanche Forecast:

Avalanche activity above the road MAY OCCUR. Resulting avalanche debris reaching the road grade is POSSIBLE but NOT LIKELY.

Travel Advisory:

No vehicles stopping in the roadway corridor. It is recommended that any person operating equipment in the corridor wear an avalanche transceiver.

Weather and Snowpack Summary:

The recent storm system brought moderate snowfall amounts to the JC Road corridor, along with warmer temperatures as the system moved out of the area.

As the snowpack adjust to the warmer temperatures and recent loading event it will begin to slowly gain strength. This process will not happen quickly due to the poor structure of the snowpack.

Consistent light snowfall along with light SE-SW winds are forecasted for the JC Road corridor through the weekend. With the forecasted snowfall and underlying poor structure of the snowpack there is the possibility of moderate avalanche activity, but any activity is expected to terminate above the roadway.
